Beef Tomato Kebab
(Taj Kebab)
Marinade for steak is indispensable
for beef tomato kebab. The another name of this kebab is Taj Kebab. Actually kebab is very popular recipe. Beef tomato kebab
consists of beef, pieces of bread, tomato and spicy chilli sauce. This recipe is probably originated from Germany. On holidays the Germans prepare this kebab
at their residence. Such kind of recipe is unknown in Turkey. This recipe is
eaten as fast food. Some ingredients are necessary for preparing this recipe. You
have to use marinade for steak for making this recipe. The cooking process is
as follows;
Ingredients:
* 1
kg (2 lb) tender boneless beef

150g (6 oz) potatoes
*
150g (6 oz) tomatoes
*
75g (3 oz) onions
* ½
teaspoon chilli powder
* 2
teaspoons ground ginger
* 1
teaspoon ground garlic
* 1
teaspoon ground cumin
* ½
teaspoon ground black pepper
* 1
teaspoon ground poppy seeds
* 4
cardamoms
* 2
sticks 2.5 cm piece cinnamon
* 2
cloves
* 3
whole red chillies (optional)
* 1
tablespoon green papaya paste
* ¾
cup cooking oil
* 1
tablespoon vinegar
*
Salt to taste
Directions:
1.
Slice the beef into moderate large-sized pieces. Rub the meat with green papaya
paste ( or meat tenderizer).
2.
Marinate for 20 minutes. Green papaya or meat tenderizer is not necessary for
tender loin beef.
3.
Peel and slice the potatoes ½ cm (1/4”) thick and slice the tomatoes and onions
too.
4.
Combine the spices, salt, vinegar and oil. Rub on the beef.
5. In
a greased saucepan layer the meat, potatoes, tomatoes and onion alternately.
Add I cup of water. Put lid on and bring to boil. Lower heat and simmer for
about 1-2 hours till the meat is tender and separates.
Serve
hot with boiled rice, pullao, chapatti or parata. 6 servings.
