Potato Bhaji
(Alu Bhaji)

Potato bhaji is a common recipe. Potato is an English word that comes from Spanish patata. Potato is a common vegetable in the world. The people of every country in the world cultivate potato. Recipe with potatoes is famous all over the world. Potato Bhaji is very simple and delicious recipe. Everybody likes it. Potatoes are different types. There are about five thousand potato varieties in the world. Three thousand of them are found in Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile, Columbia and some other countries. The rest of the varieties are found in Asia. Holland is famous for producing potatoes. Potato is one of the important human diets in the world. It is called cool vegetable. It contains carbohydrate and minerals as well as vitamins. It is very hygienic. Most of the people of the world depend on it.  We can prepare different kinds of simple and delicious recipes with potato. Its cooking method is simple. The method is as follows;

Ingredients:
  • ½ kg potato
  • 4 table spoons chopped onion
  • ½ table spoon ground black pepper
  • 4 table spoons cooking oil
  • Coriander leaves  or mint leaves (optional)
  • Salt to taste
How to prepare:
  1. Peel potatoes. Shred moderately thin, wash and strain.
  2. In a frying pan heat the oil. Fry the onion golden brown.
  3. Add he potatoes.  ¼ cup of water and salt.
  4. Stir, cover and cook over moderate heat for 5-6 minutes.
  5. Then over a low heat until cooked water has gone.
  6. Stir fry for a few seconds.
  7. Remove from the heat.
  8. Reason with pepper, coriander or mint leaves.
Serve hot with chapatti, parata or bread. Serve it only for 4 people.
