Tehari

Tehari recipe is very simple and delicious recipe.  Beef  or mutton is needed to cook this recipe. This recipe is found largely in Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. The people of these countries are very fond of tehari. Tehari is found in the restaurants of  Bangladesh. I was very much interested to eat this  recipe But when I ate this recipe, I was determined to prepare this simple and delicious recipe. At last I'm writing about Tehari Recipe. The cooking process of the recipe is  given below.
Ingredients: 
700 gm (1½ lbs) beef or mutton    
1/3 cup finely chopped onion
 ½ tablespoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 teaspoon chilli powder
1/ teaspoon ground black pepper
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground garlic
3 sticks 2.5  cm piece cinnamon
4 cardamoms
4 cloves
2 bay leaves
1 cup cooking oil
500 gm (1½ lbs) pullao rice
8 green chillies
1/2 cup shelled green peas
Salt to taste

Preparation:
1. Cut the meat into small cubes. Except the rice, green chillies and peas place all other ingredients in a saucepan.
2. Add 2 cups of water. Cook over a low heat till meat is tender. 
3. Stir and fry the meat for 10 minutes over a low heat.
4. Add rice, 3½ cups of hot water, chillies and peas. Stir, cover and cook over moderate heat for 18-20 minutes. 
5. Remove from heat and keep covered for 15 minutes.

Serve with salad or borhani. 4-6 servings.
